PLAN DATE: SUN / JUNE 2
Something that never gets old is a stroll through Washington Square Park on a sunny, blue sky day. Filled with characters vying for your attention from people dancing and singing, to cute dogs running around living their best life—it’s a permanent reminder that this is what living in New York is all about. JG Melon is another reminder of that. It’s an iconic New York style bistro with checkered tablecloths and cheap (cash-only) prices—sat at an outdoor table, with a fresh crisp brew in the sunshine, you may as well be in heaven.
27 Morton is a friendly neighborhood cafe serving tasty foods from Central and Eastern Europe. The restaurant is cute and inviting, with patterned wallpaper, lots of plants and sidewalk seating (cha-ching) perfect for the warmer days and people watching on picturesque Morton Street; the food is like a warm hug that leaves you smiling from the inside out. We recommend starting with their Blintzes with red caviar, and definitely save some room for the Palatschinke—a crêpe-like Romanian pancake with lingonberries and sour-cream for dessert.
