PLAN DATE: FRI / JUNE 14
What started as a simple, yet revered, sushi and ramen spot in quiet Princeton finds its new home in Brooklyn as Ajihei, bringing you and your love all the best in Japanese food and sake. It’s calm, compact, and modern, with a variety of steamy, hot dishes to warm you up: tonkotsu and shoyu ramen, katsu curries, and super fresh, simple, and elegant sushi platters. It’s a hidden gem cheffed up by one man.
After filling up on Japanese fare to your heart’s content, head up to Idlewild. It’s rare to find a bar with great cocktails, and it’s even rarer to find one with a menu of rotating food. This Bushwick beer and wine bar is complete with rustic decor, and if tonight’s visit leaves you wanting more—on Wednesdays from 9-12, there’s an open mic/cabaret performance.
156 Knickerbocker Avenue, Brooklyn
idk tip: As an appetizer, try the Oyster Fry.
24 St Nicholas Avenue, Brooklyn
idk tip: They’re famous for their ever-rotating beer and wine options, but if you’re feeling like a cocktail, try a literary-inspired Lolita or Naked Lunch.
