PLAN DATE: MON / JULY 22
Apollonia, a newer Mediterranean restaurant in East Williamsburg, is the place to head if you’re looking for a lighthearted, fresh, authentic meal and atmosphere. With their white walls, copper bar, and vibrant, jazzy table china, your mood is sure to instantly lift at this restaurant where the owners pride themselves on not having “one bad table” – that means no unsettling bathroom or kitchen traffic. Their menu is categorized by small, medium, and large dishes – a detail that serves those with “eyes bigger than their stomachs” quite well.
After dinner, head over to duckduck, a dive bar on Montrose Ave. Not to worry – your spirits won’t plummet heading into this bar – it does not tote the typical dive bar characteristics. The bouncers and bartenders are known for being extremely friendly and conversational, and their décor is super fun (ducks literally everywhere). The atmosphere is more homey than dingy and their eclectic crowds make the space inviting. Think a good mix of hippies, yuppies, suit and frat bros, artsy fartsy folk, and casual party goers. The drinks are inexpensive, the beer selection sprawling, there’s darts and ducks – thus great moods all around!
