Beauty Bar x Baohaus

PLAN DATE: FRI / SEPT. 6

PLAN DETAILS:

A good time doesn’t need to be super fancy, and we’ve got a date night for you that’s low maintenance but lots of fun. Start your night at Beauty Bar, a retro salon-themed bar near Union Square. They place has a little bit of a dive-y feel, but with a lot of style with glittery walls and hair drying chairs against the wall. You can even actually get your nails done with their Martinis and Manicure happy hour special, where $10 gets you a drink and a basic manicure. They also have a larger space in the back that serves as a dance floor when they play a mix of modern chart toppers and oldies dance hits later at night on weekends.

For a late night snack, head over to Baohaus, a small restaurant that puts a twist on bao buns by filling them with delicious Taiwanese-Chinese inspired bites like all natural fried chicken and tofu. The place was started by brothers Evan and Eddie Huang—the latter wrote the book that inspired the sitcom Fresh Off the Boat—and has the hip hop vibe Eddie is known for with graffiti and stickers covering the walls. Order a bunch of baos to try with a side of taro fries, and feel free to chow down late into the night.
