Fourth Avenue Pub x Wolf & Deer

Begin your night at the divey and dark Fourth Avenue Pub where draft beers abound. This bar can easily become your new go-to—drinks are extremely cheap, the staff is super friendly, and free popcorn is on the bar. There’s not much space inside, although the venue doesn’t crowd often; however, if the weather is nice, there are some picnic tables for lounging. Fun fact: the bathroom has a chalkboard and chalk so you can write notes or draw your feelings while you’re doing your thing. The atmosphere is really chill, and it’s the kind of place where you’ll befriend the bartender without even trying.

Next, head to wine bar Wolf & Deer, which offers an ever-changing, creative cocktail menu, snacks, and an interesting crowd. Drinks are named after children’s books like The Giving Tree and Oh, The Places You’ll Go, and during happy hour (every day until 8 p.m.), they’re only $10. There are also daily specials like 3 wine tastings for $7 or 6 oysters and two glasses of bubbles for $20…the list goes on. The interior is beautiful with lots of exposed brick and a big U-shaped bar. It’s small, but very cozy, and creates for a nice space to actually hear what your date has to say instead of having to shout over loud, overplayed music.
