Habana Outpost x World Pride Opening Ceremony

Stepping into Habana Outpost feels like entering a backyard summer bash. The order-at-the-counter spot has a colorful yard packed with rainbow umbrellas, bright tables, and a fence adorned in grass and flowers (all the better to hide the hustle and bustle of NYC). Along with strong drinks, they have Cuban fare like Cubano sandwiches, beer battered catfish, and elote, along with a “for the gringos” menu for those that just want a hamburger—but take another look at the tacos before you settle for that.

Let dinner fuel you into the high energy World Pride Opening Ceremony, the start of what is sure to be one of the biggest Pride celebrations in history. Held at the Barclays Center, this opening ceremony is framed as a benefit concert hosted by queen Whoopi Goldberg and features the amazing talent of icons like Cyndi Lauper, Ciara, Daya, and more. The event raises money for Ali Forney Center, Immigration Equality, and SAGE (which advocates for LGBTQ seniors), so while you get down with your bad self you’ll be doing good.
