Henry at Life Hotel x 1986 Est.

First, let celebrated Chef Joseph “JJ” Johnson show off his globally-inspired skills at Henry at the Life Hotel. With Pan-African cuisine (dusted with some Asian and Caribbean inspiration for some extra elevated effect), this polished, cosmopolitan restaurant is all about class and charm. It’s fashioned after an early 20th cocktail century lounge, drenched in natural light and the holy trinity (marble, wood, and leather), and has sophistication to spare while you decide between dishes like Concón, Yassa Corn, and Kohlrabi.

After dinner, head down the block to 1986 Est., a swanky piano bar inside the Hotel Stanford (tonight is all about hotels, in case you haven’t noticed). Walking a fine line between ritzy and quirky (see: the fancy grand piano next to a stick figure drawing that reads, “You say I’m a bitch like it’s a bad thing”), 1986 Est. is the perfect way to end the evening in style. Just keep in mind that even though their seasonal craft cocktails never disappoint, this bar is especially proud of their martinis and single malt scotch.
