PLAN DATE: THURS / JAN. 10
It’s a dessert-before-dinner kind of date night, and it starts with ice cream-making (and eating) at Ample Hills Creamery in Gowanus. The theme is centered solely around The Big Lebowski, where you and yours will get the chance to create an ice cream inspired by The Dude’s favorite creamy libation: a White Russian. You’ll not only learn the ins and outs of how to make your own ice cream, but you’ll also learn how much better ice cream tastes when it’s spiked with vodka and coffee liqueur. The class costs $95, runs from 7-9pm, and is totally worth it.
Now that your sweet tooth has been satisfied, head to Runner & Stone for some highly delectable New American cuisine. With a gorgeously rusted exterior and a raw, rustic interior that perfectly complements the menu—namely with dishes like their carrot lumache and braided ricotta ravioli—Runner & Stone will have you hooked. It’s a quaint, but distinguished locale, made all the better with a small, but satisfying, specialty cocktails list, including the classier-than-it-sounds Stoner’s Delight (highlight: the rhubarb preserves base) and the sweet and peppery Frisky Bumblebee.

idk tip: Their cracked rye pudding with barley malt and red wine figs may not have the power to cure the world of unhappiness, but it’s a really inspired start.
