PLAN DATE: SAT / JULY 27
What does Asian food and music have in common? Kichin! This Bushwick staple is almost as obsessed with the NYC music scene as we are with them. They most recently served food at music venue Baby’s All Right, and they recently opened a storefront of their very own. The sit-down restaurant and cafe serve dishes like mussels with kimchi and anchovy butter and Korean rice cakes with halloumi cheese and mozzarella. It’s not your basic Asian fare, but it’s worth getting out of your comfort zone for. If you want to take things to the next level, take a peek at the cocktail menu. You’ll certainly feel ‘Some Type of Way’ after sipping on this namesake drink, which combines curacao, tequila, lime and spice for a feisty start to any evening.
When you finish your meal, head on over to Birdy’s. A local and beloved dive bar, this 70s themed joint comes complete with retro lighting, booths and Christmas lights giving the place a unique sort of glow. It has a hometown feel, but it’s right in the middle of the big city. The best part? It has hometown prices, too. No sticker shock here, and no need to break the bank to have a good time. So grab a booth, drink up and end date night right. You’ll thank us later.
