Loring Place x 124 Old Rabbit Club

The best of the Union Square Greenmarket flourishes at Loring Place, a trendy restaurant that prioritizes farm-to-table. Convince yourself this counts as getting your 5-7 servings of green stuff and supporting local farmers when you order up baked ricotta with fresh sourdough. For real romantic satisfaction, skip the date pizza and wine in favor of their unique cocktail menu (made with small-batch, local spirits of course) and the New York Times rated grandma pie. All the plates are intended for sharing, so make sure you bring someone who’s more “our fries” than “MY fries”. And if they do hog the roasted short rib, you can at least draw zen vibes from the all-white walls, chairs, and counters accented with polished wood and black steel.

Cut through Washington Square Park over to 124 Old Rabbit Club and look for the stairs that lead down the rabbit hole—okay fine, it’s just a door with a rabbit painted next to it. You’ll be buzzed into what looks like an abandoned mansion’s elegant hallway (it’s cozy) turned intimate dive bar. Lit with dusty chandeliers, caged light bulbs, and candles that help to illuminate the rabbit motif plastered on the exposed brick walls, this place has a vibe. It also has one of the most extensive and unique craft beer lists, so sip your Bianca Peanut Butter Jelly Lassi Gose Sour as you and your date eavesdrop on the Mad Hatter-type sitting a few seats away.
