PLAN DATE: SUN / SEP. 2
Tonight we’re living the hi life as we head uptown to hit two Upper West Side gems. First up: transport yourselves to Cape Cod at upscale-casual seafood restaurant, The Mermaid Inn. Sip on delicious cocktails like the Jalapeño Hospitality with jalapeño-infused tequila, pineapple juice, and agave or the Poseidon’s Punch with Tito’s vodka, strawberry, guava, and grapefruit. The Mermaid Inn offers a selection of both East and West coast oysters but don’t fret if you’re a newbie when it comes to the famous aphrodisiac. The restaurant encourages you to download their iPhone App Oysterpedia that not only takes the guesswork out of ordering but serves as a reference tool for the oysters you have already tried.
After you’ve gone from oyster novice to expert, walk down the street to Hi-Life Bar & Grill for a nightcap. Keep an eye out for the fabulous vintage car outfitted with a neon martini sign parked outside for the perfect photo opp. The vintage vibe continues as you walk through the door and are greeted with 1930s decor, an art-deco bar, and cozy banquette seating. Once you’ve acclimated to yesteryear, feast your eyes on the expansive cocktail menu separated into the following delectable categories: martinis, hi-ball cocktails, champagne cocktails, tropical cocktails, and little umbrella drinks. Our favorite of the list? The Passion Fruit Caipirinha made with cachaca rum, muddled lime, simple syrup, and passion fruit puree. Cheers!
