PLAN DATE: SUN / MAR. 17
If anything, parades are for getting a little wild and boozy, and you can bet the Brooklyn St Patrick’s Day Parade takes that to heart. Station yourselves within Prospect Park (hopefully wearing green), and take part in the festivities as floats go by and the sea of green tosses, turns, and glitters with the jolly crowd. Give yourselves the chance to get rowdy and join Brooklyn’s commemoration of Irish fighters against the British in the Battle of Brooklyn in a modern-day display of fun and fanfare with a good beer-fix.
You’ll want your pregame to be delicious in addition to totally fun-inducing, and Midwood Flats, a “rustic-chic” gastropub that’s all about burgers and whiskey, is where that’ll happen. They’ve got an amazing array of plates to share that includes toppling potato nachos (housemade chips, cheddar, black beans, scallions, jalapeño) and savory, spicy hot wings, as well as, of course, a mouth-watering selection of sandwiches that ranges the classic Midwood burger (aged white cheddar, fried onion, chipotle aioli, mixed greens, tomato, brioche bun), to the Cajun Club (catfish, bacon, cajun aioli, tomato, ciabatta). With over 20 rotating craft beers on tap, they’ve also got fun cocktails like the Handsome Devil (mezcal, falernum, campari, grapefruit, ginger, bitters) to get you and your love pumped up for the big day.
