NATALIE + RILEY
HOW THEY MET
We met briefly two years ago in D.C. when we were stuck in a bar during a torrential rainstorm, but I moved up to New York soon afterwards for graduate school. We had a lot of mutual friends, so a year later when Riley got into law school at the same university, our friends recommended we connect. Eager to have another friend in the city, I agreed, and we began to hang out often. From late nights in West Village that would end with him piggy-backing me to Joe’s Pizza, to snack-exchanges on campus during our finals, to attending each other’s formals, we did it all. After a year of being “just friends,” we got together, and all of our friends got to say “we told you so!”
From Riley: We may have missed each other when we were in undergrad together, and even when we lived a block apart in D.C., but we couldn’t have picked a better time or place to have found one another. It’s taken until grad school to fall in love, but the time since has been the best of my life, and I can’t think of anything that excites me more than continuing to explore this city, country, and world with her.
DESCRIBE YOUR RELATIONSHIP
He’s the more laid-back, extroverted one, while I’m a homebody who counts napping as a hobby. That said, what we love most about our relationship is that everything we do together feels like an adventure–whether a Saturday that starts with no plans or a Thursday with dinner reservations and theatre tickets–we have the most fun when we’re exploring the possibilities of New York together.
Foodies, travelers, Great British Bakeoff-Enthusiasts, bookworms, runners, and occasional theater/gallery-goers.
