PLAN DATE: SAT / AUG. 11
Haru Sushi’s famous founding dynamic duo, Chef Haru Konagaya and restauranter Barbara Matsumura, have joined forces once again to open Natsumi Tapas in Gramercy. Their newest venture is just what the area needed, offering both a restaurant and lounge in one sleek and intimate environment. Forget you’re in the hustle and bustle of the city while you and your date sip on delicious lychee martinis made with lychees previously soaked for days, or with the bartender’s choice featuring fresh juices and house-made purées. Tease your appetite with tapas like the tofu veggie toban yaki, rock shrimp tempura or the tuna tartare martini before embarking on the remainder of your evening.
Walk a few blocks towards the Kips Bay area where Chinese Club NY recently opened their doors. This new neighborhood staple comes to the city by way of Salil and Stacey Mehta, owners of the popular Chinese Club in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The restaurant has taken the neighborhood by storm with delicious Desi-Wallah family-inspired dishes like the bengali fish cooked in a spicy coconut milk curry and sizzling hakka chili. If you’re a vegetarian, you’re in luck as the menu offers over a dozen veggie-centric dishes, with our favorite being the “wheels of fortune”, made with honey-chili crispy lotus roots. And be sure to have your phone/camera ready — these dishes will be sure to make your friends drool.

idk tip: The word “Natsumi” is comprised of the Japanese words for “summer” and “beauty,” making it the perfect place for the season.
