PLAN DATE: WEDS / AUG. 1
Start your night at Serengeti Kitchen, where you’ll sample dishes from the coastal regions and plains of Africa. Since it’d be impossible to cover all of the incredible dishes and delicacies across Africa in one menu, the menu shifts every two months to focus on a different region. Their famed “Serengeti Teas & Spices” are interwoven into every dish and specialty brew, and after you fall in love with them, are also available for purchase.
After, head to cocktail lounge Gin Fizz for vintage-inspired cocktails. With its velvet banquettes and glittering chandeliers, this hidden Harlem gem will take you back to the ‘20s-era speakeasies, where gin joints were defined by their class and craft.
Serengeti Kitchen, 22E, Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd
idk tip: It’s the sister shop of Serengeti Teas and Spices, so if you’re fans of all things herbal, check out the West Harlem outpost for quality chai.
308 Malcolm X Blvd, Manhattan
idk tip: With live music Wednesday to Saturday, ranging from funk, to Afro beats, to jazz, you’ll see how Gin Fizz blends downtown cool with uptown soul.
