Taladwat x Gossip

Remember growing up when you’d sit in a bright and warm kitchen while your favorite aunt made you delicious Thai food? Us neither, but that’s the vibe the fun yet relaxed Taladwat gives off. The walls decorated with long-handled pans and bags of produce paired with bright yellow tables and colorful flags strewn ahead create a feel that’s homey and cheerful. Dishes are small (read: not American-sized portions) so take advantage of the Pick & Mix and get a few to share. The countryside-inspired food may seem new to you if you’re a Pad Thai devotee, but you can’t go wrong with the gorgeous Fried Whole Butterfish or Stir Fried Kabocha Squash.

Keep the homey-feel going and head north into Gossip, a classic Midtown Irish bar. With its festive decorations and lively crowd, you’ll feel like you just walked into a giant family holiday party. Luckily, here no one wants to ask about your retirement plan, just if you’d like to choose from their wide variety of beers. This sprawling space has many corners for a couple to tuck into, but make your way to the back where there’s a real fireplace burning—you can’t get much cozier than that.

idk tip: The tables are family style, so come to gush over the flavors with your tablemates, not to have an intimate conversation.
