PLAN DATE: WEDS / JUNE 12
Suzanne Dumaine—a trained chef, recipe developer, and writer—knows a thing or two about good food, and at Three Owls Market we all get to reap the rewards of her knowledge. You and your love will find a thoughtfully curated selection of dry goods, drinks, and pantry items inspired by her Italian heritage, a rotating menu of seasonal dishes served deli-style (to eat in or out), plus rotisserie chickens from the Catskills that all make for the perfect picnic basket building supplies. The space itself, designed by the firm MP Shift, who make many of New York’s most Instagrammable eating destinations features green marble, green leather, cherrywood walls, and Spanish tile floors. Pieces of the nearby Highline’s tracks were even found in the ceiling and serve as a design reference.
At the end of famous and fabulous Christopher Street where the city meets the Hudson River, is Pier 45. With a perfect stretch of fresh green grass, it’s the ideal spot to claim a patch and settle in for a summer picnic. Amenities on this 850-foot-long pier include shade structures, seating areas, and a wooden decking. It’s a favorite spot for sunbathing in the neighborhood and is also an event space in the summer. The views aren’t bad either—stretching down to Tribeca and up to Times Square. We recommend sticking around for the sunset, a real Insta moment.
