PLAN DATE: SUN / MAY 19
Whether you’re a veg head or just looking to stuff your face and still feel healthy about it, the Vegetarian Food Festival is a good event to check out. The lineup of vendors includes NYC standbys like Beyond Sushi and Fresh & Co along with other plant-based innovators bringing you veggie fritos or earth-friendly ice cream. In addition to serving up meatless treats, the festival also has a raffle with proceeds going to the Coalition for Healthy School Food and a panel of speakers ranging from chefs to environmental activists. Vegetables, charity, and learning? This is date will fulfill all your resolutions and be romantic. The festival runs 11am—6pm.
After a day of walking around food festin’, grab a seat and pep up at the ironically named Cafe Grumpy. This coffee house is bright and airy with large windows, mirrored accents, and bright yellow stools. They serve up strong coffee in every latte or cappuccino formation you can want, with a different specialty flavored coffee every season. They also serve cookies, pound cake, and other treats so you can make sure to keep spirits (and blood sugar) high.
